Kent City Athletic Weekly 6-1 -- 6-6
Kent City Athletic Weekly 6-1 -- 6-6
Updated on 06/01/2026

We have a massive amount to celebrate as we head into the final week of school!

On Friday, Kent City’s varsity baseball team captured a District Championship—the school’s first since 2013. The Eagles are keeping the momentum at home as they move on to the Regional Semifinals, which will be hosted right here at Kent City this Wednesday.

On Saturday, Ward Memorial Field took center stage as we hosted the MHSAA Division 3 Track and Field Finals. This massive undertaking was a resounding success thanks to an "army" of over 150 volunteers including staff, students, and community members.

By the numbers, it was a day to remember:

  • 4,500 people (spectators, athletes, and workers)
  • 2,000 vehicles were managed on campus.

Infinite thanks to everyone who chipped in to provide a world-class experience for student-athletes from across Michigan!

Finally, on Saturday, Laynee Hoffman capped off a stellar career by cementing her legacy in the record books. With a career total of 227 stolen bases over four years of varsity softball, Laynee now officially ranks 3rd all-time in MHSAA history. Congratulations, Laynee, on an incredible milestone!
