This coming week is undeniably bittersweet for our senior student-athletes. There is no question that the excitement is building as they officially wrap up their final classes at Kent City High School in anticipation of next week’s graduation ceremony. However, this milestone also serves as a poignant signal: their time wearing a Kent City jersey is quickly coming to a close.
To the student-athletes who have dedicated themselves over the past four years and beyond to Kent City Athletics: THANK YOU. It has been an absolute privilege watching you grow, compete, and lead. You have left an indelible mark on our athletic programs, and your presence in our stands, on our fields, and in our gymnasiums will be deeply missed.
Our greatest hope is that Kent City Athletics has served as a training ground for life. We hope you carry forward the core values you've forged here:
- Work Ethic: The drive to show up and give your best.
- Teamwork: The ability to pull together for a common goal.
- Resilience: The strength to overcome adversity whenever it strikes.
Take these lessons and use them to make this world a better place. While your spring seasons may still have weeks of competition left, we will certainly miss your leadership in our hallways and classrooms starting next week.
As you move on to the next chapter of your lives, remember where you came from. We hope you will always return to support the Eagle Nation that you have helped build and strengthen over the past four years.
Congratulations, Class of 2026. Let’s finish strong!

Key Contests
Varsity Baseball, vs. White Cloud (DH)
Tuesday, May 12 | 4:00 p.m. | Kent City High School
Kent City will host White Cloud on Tuesday for a double header with major CSAA White implications. Kent City is 3-1 in the conference and will need to win out to earn a share of the CSAA White. Of the two conference games left on the schedule, Tuesday’s match-up with White Cloud will definitely be the most challenging. The Indians do not sport a great record (3-8) but they have given some of the top teams lots of trouble, losing to Central Montcalm 6-5 and Grant 8-7. To win both games, Kent City will need to have solid performances from their pitching staff and be ready to challenge one of the best pitchers in the CSAA White.
Varsity Track @ MHSAA Regionals (@ Montague)
Friday, May 15 | 2:00 p.m. | Montague High School
The varsity track and field teams will travel to Montague on Friday for the MHSAA Regionals and a chance to qualify for the State Finals (on their home track). There are two ways to qualify on Friday: either by place (1st or 2nd) or by time, distance, or height (see the additional qualifying standards). Kent City is in a TOUGH Regional at Montague that includes seven private schools, plus Belding, Lakeview, and Saugatuck, all who have solid teams this year. Kent City’s boys should score well at the meet, especially considering three of their four relays are ranked 2nd heading into Friday’s event. The boys should also score in the majority of the events (top 8 earn medals), with some individuals breaking through for a top two finish or a qualifying time. The girls do not have the same depth, but will have as many as three qualify for the Finals. Since Friday’s event is an MHSAA postseason event, all tickets must be purchased via GoFan: https://gofan.co/event/6559826?schoolId=MI10243.
Varsity Softball @ Coopersville Tournament
Saturday, May 16 2026 | 9:00 a.m. | Coopersville High School
On Saturday, Kent City will travel to Coopersville for a late season softball tournament. Kent City will open up the day against the host school at 9:00 a.m. The Broncos are 14-7 on the season and have no common opponents on their schedule, nor did they play at last year’s tournament. In game two, Kent City will play Plymouth Christian for a 2nd straight year. The Eagles won last year’s tournament, defeating Kent City 7-1. This year, it appears that Plymouth Christian is a bit down, with an 8-10 record heading into this week. Two quality opponents late in the season will help prepare Kent City for the MHSAA postseason which is fast approaching (May 30).
