⚽ Varsity Boys Soccer begins CSAA Blue Tournament play this week and will celebrate Senior Night on Friday. Districts kick off next week, and with a conference title already secured, the Eagles look to carry momentum into the postseason.
🏐 Varsity Volleyball has moved past the midway point of the season and currently sits undefeated in CSAA White play (5-0). The Eagles are eyeing a championship run as the final stretch begins.
🏈 Varsity Football is also tied atop the CSAA White standings, with four games remaining—including two key matchups within the division. The path to a title is there, and the Eagles are ready to fight for it.
🏃♀️🏃♂️ Boys and Girls Cross Country teams will hit the midpoint of their seasons on Tuesday as Kent City hosts a CSAA White Jamboree. The girls team has a chance to clinch at least a share of the conference title, continuing a strong tradition of success. The varsity boys are in second place in the conference.
With one conference title already in hand (boys soccer) and three more within reach (girls XC, football, and volleyball), the 2025 fall season has been a strong one for Kent City athletics.

The varsity girls won the race earning a first place trophy, while the boys were runners-up. Varsity Football: The varsity football team wasted no time during Homecoming 2025, jumping out to a huge halftime lead in route to a 67-0 victory over Lakeview on Friday. The Eagles are now 5-0 overall and 2-0 in the CSAA White.
Varsity Girls Golf: The varsity girls golf team played at the Pines Golf Course in a 2 person scramble on Tuesday. The Eagles had one group of two finish in 5th place out of 26 teams with a combined score of 89.
Varsity Boys Soccer: The varsity boys soccer team had some well deserved time off with only one game last week. In that non-league contest against Grand River Prep, the Eagles earned the win, 2-0. Kent City is now 10-4-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the CSAA Blue.
Varsity Volleyball: The varsity volleyball team picked up two more CSAA White victories last week including a thrilling come from behind victory over conference arch-nemesis Morley Stanwood. On Tuesday, the Eagles dropped the first two sets before roaring back in a flashback of the 2024 game, winning 3-2. Then on Tuesdays the Eagles were on the road again and defeated Lakeview 3-0. Kent City is now 16-4-1 overall and 5-0 in the CSAA White
Key Contests
Varsity Boys Soccer @ CSAA Blue Tournament (Semi-Finals & Finals)
Monday, September 29 (Semifinals) and Wednesday, October 1 (Finals) at 6:00 p.m.
On Monday, Kent City will square off against Big Rapids in a much-anticipated #1 vs. #5 showdown in the CSAA Blue Tournament semifinals. These two programs have consistently dominated the conference, combining for multiple titles in recent years—including three of the past four seasons for the Eagles.
Their first meeting just two weeks ago ended in a scoreless 0-0 draw, with both teams showcasing strong defense and battling through a sloppy first half. Since then, Big Rapids has shaken off a slow start to the season and looks to be peaking at the right time. The Cardinals recently avenged their only true conference loss with a 3-2 win over Newaygo in the tournament quarterfinals—a team Kent City tied earlier this season.
Regardless of the outcome on Monday, the Eagles will host again on Wednesday in the tournament finals, taking on either Grant or. Tri-County. Kent City defeated both teams during the regular season—5-1 over Grant and 3-0 against Tri-County.
Both Monday’s semifinal and Wednesday’s final are scheduled to kick off at 6:00 p.m.
Varsity XC @ CSAA White Jamboree (at Kent City)
Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. (girls) and 5:00 p.m. (boys)
Kent City’s cross country teams are heading into a pivotal week, with a chance for the girls team to clinch at least a share of the CSAA White championship on Tuesday, followed by one of the biggest meets of the season—the Portage Invitational—on Saturday.
The girls got off to a strong start in their title pursuit, edging out host Central Montcalm by just five points at the first jamboree. Tuesday’s showdown will once again feature the Eagles and the Hornets in a head-to-head battle for league supremacy—this time on Kent City’s home course. In their first match-up, the two schools dominated the front of the race, occupying the top 11 spots. Expect more of the same this week, although Kent City will need another strong showing as Central Montcalm’s times continue to improve.
On the boys' side, Kent City is aiming to hold onto their second-place standing after finishing behind a dominant Central Montcalm team that swept the top five spots in the first jamboree. With Lakeview closing the gap and their top runner returning to form, the Eagles will need a solid team effort to stay ahead in the standings.
The week wraps up with Saturday’s Portage Invitational, one of the largest and fastest races of the year. With thousands of runners and a favorable, fast course, times tend to drop dramatically—helped along by the adrenaline rush of running in a massive, competitive field.
12th Annual Kent City Dig Pink Tournament
Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 9:00 a.m.
Now in its 12th season, Kent City’s Dig Pink Tournament returns this Saturday with eight teams set to compete in a day full of volleyball, community, and purpose. The Eagles, winners of the past two Dig Pink titles, will be aiming for a three-peat—but this year’s field will offer plenty of competition.
Among the teams vying for the championship are CSAA Red powers Grant and Newaygo, along with Calvin Christian, last year’s runner-up, who is back and enjoying a strong season. Kent City’s pool includes the host Eagles, Grant, Orchard View, and Zion Christian.
The tournament will begin with pool play, where each team will face the others in their group in two-set round robin matches. After that, teams will be seeded into a three-round bracket to determine the tournament champion.
But Dig Pink is about more than just volleyball. The event supports the Side-Out Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the fight against breast cancer. Leading up to the tournament, Kent City’s players have been raising funds and awareness—and on Saturday, each athlete will dedicate her performance to someone who is currently battling or has battled cancer.
It promises to be a powerful day—both on and off the court.
