Athletic Weekly 9-22 – 9-27
It’s Homecoming Week at Kent City, and with it comes all the fun and festivities for our students, culminating in Friday night’s varsity football game against Lakeview at Ward Memorial Field.
Despite the name "Homecoming," only one other varsity team will compete at home this week—the varsity boys soccer team. After a stretch of home contests, most of our teams will be on the road this week.
We’re also proud to announce our first official league champion of the 2025–26 school year: the varsity boys soccer team! The Eagles completed an undefeated run through the CSAA Blue with a 4-0-2 record, securing their third league title in the past four seasons—and the only three in school history.
With the regular season behind them, the Eagles now advance to the CSAA Blue Tournament, where they’ve earned a first-round bye.

Key Contests
Varsity Volleyball @ Morley Stanwood
Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.
The first showdown of the season between conference arch-rivals Kent City and Morley Stanwood will take place on the road in what has become one of the fiercest rivalries in the CSAA. These two powerhouses have long dominated CSAA volleyball, and this year's matchup promises to be no different.
Kent City enters the game with a 14-4-1 overall record and a perfect 3-0 mark in the CSAA White. Morley Stanwood is 16-8 overall and also unbeaten in conference play. Impressively, neither team has dropped a single set in CSAA White competition so far—combined, they’re a perfect 18-for-18.
Both teams have defeated all their shared opponents and suffered losses only to teams the other has yet to face.
Last season, the Eagles pulled off an incredible comeback in the first meeting at home, rallying from a 0-2 deficit to win in five sets. However, the Mohawks struck back in the rematch, sweeping Kent City in straight sets to force a tie for the CSAA White championship.
Expect another intense, hard-hitting battle between these perennial contenders when they meet Tuesday night!
Varsity Football vs. Lakeview
Friday, September 26, 2025 at 7:00 p.m.
Kent City will host Lakeview in the 2025 Homecoming game this Friday at Ward Memorial Field. The matchup is a CSAA White divisional contest, and the Eagles are looking to remain undefeated—currently 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the division.
Lakeview, meanwhile, is still seeking its first win of the season. Since their last playoff appearance in 2017, the Wildcats have struggled, posting a combined 16-43 record over the past eight seasons, including an 0-4 start in 2025. In contrast, Kent City has compiled an impressive 49-21 record during that same period.
The Wildcats are under new leadership this season, with a coaching staff that has moved away from the traditional split-back formation in favor of a T formation with some variations. Offensively, however, the transition has been slow. Lakeview has scored just 19 points through four games, including a 28-7 loss last week to Morley Stanwood— the only common opponent between the two teams. Kent City defeated the Mohawks 40-0 two weeks ago.
In addition to the action on the field, Friday’s game also marks Kent City’s 2025 Homecoming celebration. Fans, alumni, and the community are invited to take part in the traditional festivities, including the opportunity to tour the many recent improvements made to the high school prior to kickoff.
